Life is a race. Every day we wake up, we are running toward something God has already ordained for our lives. Some races are filled with excitement, while others are filled with obstacles, delays, rejection, and moments where we feel like giving up. But one thing we must remember is this: no race is complete unless you finish.
Many people are stuck right before the finish line. They have endured the storms, survived the battles, overcome challenges, and made it through situations they thought would destroy them. Yet, when they get close to the place God has promised them, they become tired, discouraged, and ready to quit. The enemy understands that if he cannot stop you at the beginning, he will try to stop you near the end.
The enemy’s plan is to make you abandon what God has assigned to you. He wants you to become frustrated with the process. He wants you to question God’s promises. He wants you to look at the delay and forget that God is still working. But we must understand that being delayed does not mean we have been denied.
Sometimes God allows us to be in a season of waiting because He is preparing us for what we have been praying for. The place where you feel stuck may actually be the place where God is strengthening you. The season where you feel forgotten may be the season where God is building your character, increasing your faith, and preparing you for something greater than you could imagine.
There are moments when we cry out, “God, did You forget about me?” We wonder why doors are not opening, why opportunities have not come, and why things seem to be taking longer than expected. But God was never ignoring you. He was preparing something that required a stronger, wiser, and more mature version of you.
What you called a delay, God called preparation.
What you called rejection, God called protection.
What you called a setback, God called a setup for victory.
The enemy wants you to focus on everything that went wrong because he knows if you keep your eyes on the delay, you will lose sight of the destination. He knows if he can keep you complaining, worrying, and doubting, he can keep you from stepping into what God has already prepared for you.
But today, God is saying: Get up. It’s time to finish.
We have spent too much time mastering the things that keep us defeated. We have mastered worrying. We have mastered complaining. We have mastered fear and doubt. We have become comfortable with living beneath the promises of God. But now is the time to master winning. It is time to master perseverance. It is time to master faith. It is time to master what it means to conquer and walk in victory.
The Word of God tells us in Hebrews 12:1, “Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”
Before we can finish, we must be willing to release what is slowing us down. Some of us are carrying old pain, past disappointments, unforgiveness, fear, and insecurities. Some of us are carrying the opinions of people who were never assigned to our destiny. But if we want to cross over, we must lay aside every weight.
You cannot finish a race while carrying everything that was meant to break you.
You cannot run forward while constantly looking backward.
You cannot reach the promise while holding on to the things God told you to release.
It is time to finish.
Sometimes we look around and wonder, “God, where is Your hand?” We gather together, we pray, we worship, and we seek Him, yet we do not always see the results we are expecting. The Bible says in Matthew 18:20, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”
So if God is in the midst of us, why do we sometimes feel defeated? Why do we sometimes feel like we are losing? Why do we sometimes feel like the enemy has the advantage?
The answer is simple: we must remain faithful until the end.
God never promised that the race would be easy. He promised that He would be with us. Victory does not come to those who quit. Victory comes to those who endure.
We must stay strong until we cross over. The finish line is where we experience the reward of perseverance. The finish line is where we see that every tear, every struggle, every rejection, and every battle was worth it.
Faith must be a part of our finish.
Hope must be a part of our finish.
Perseverance must be a part of our finish.
The closer you get to victory, the harder the enemy will fight. The enemy does not waste time fighting what has no purpose. The reason the battle feels intense is because there is something valuable on the other side of your endurance.
But remember: the enemy is not stronger than God. The battle may be great, but our God is greater.
There is a purpose behind the rejection.
There is a purpose behind the delay.
There is a purpose behind the closed doors.
God has been using every moment to prepare you for where you are going.
Joseph had rejection before elevation. David had a wilderness before becoming king. Jesus had the cross before the resurrection. The process may be painful, but God has always used difficult seasons to bring forth greatness.
Do not allow anyone to stop you. Do not allow fear to stop you. Do not allow disappointment to stop you. You are closer than you think. You are closer to your breakthrough. You are closer to your promise. You are closer to your victory.
