We Wrestle Not Against Flesh and Blood, But Against Principalities

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
— Ephesians 6:12

Introduction: The Reality Behind the Fight

There comes a point in every believer’s journey when you realize the battles you’re facing are not ordinary. They are not physical, emotional, or even circumstantial — they are spiritual.

I’ve come to know this truth personally. I know what it is to fight witchcraft. I know what it is to wake up under the weight of a spiritual battle that no medicine, no conversation, and no human help could fix.

I’ve struggled with sickness in my body, tension in my marriage, and warfare in my finances. None of it came naturally — it was spiritual.

But through it all, God revealed a purpose. He told me, through prayer and through prophets, that He was allowing me to walk through those seasons so I could help deliver others who are fighting the same spirit — those who don’t yet understand that their battles are not against flesh and blood, but against principalities.

When God Trains You Through Battle

There were seasons in my life when I couldn’t understand why everything seemed to fall apart. My health failed. My finances dried up. My peace disappeared. I prayed, I fasted, I worshiped — yet the storm only intensified.

Then one night, God spoke to me in a dream. I saw myself fighting dark, evil forces — not people, but demonic spirits. In that dream, I called on the name of Jesus, and a strength rose up within me that I didn’t even know existed.

When I woke up, the Holy Spirit brought me back to Ephesians 6:12. He reminded me that the fight was not with people, not with those who had offended or hurt me, but with the spirits operating behind them.

💬 “The enemy hides behind faces, but the battle is never with the person — it’s with the spirit using them.”

The Enemy’s Greatest Disguise

This is where so many of us go wrong. We spend our energy fighting people instead of the enemy.

We argue with family, resent coworkers, and hold grudges against church members — while Satan sits back and laughs. He hides behind offense, jealousy, pride, and misunderstanding, knowing that as long as we’re distracted by flesh, we’ll never confront the spirit behind it.

The enemy wants the church divided, families broken, and friendships destroyed. Because a divided people have no power.

When you see through spiritual eyes, you realize your true battle isn’t the argument, the sickness, or the delay — it’s the enemy trying to block your breakthrough before it manifests.

Why Many Don’t Receive Their Blessing

Some of us have been waiting years for promises that were spoken over our lives. Prophecies that feel delayed, blessings that seem locked. And we’ve blamed people — thinking maybe someone is holding us back.

But God showed me something deeper:

We are not receiving because we’re fighting the wrong enemy.

The real resistance comes from wickedness in high places — demonic powers working behind the scenes to hinder, delay, or discourage us. The devil can’t cancel God’s promise, but he can make us doubt it long enough to give up on it.

That’s why we must keep praying, keep fasting, and keep warring in the Spirit.

The Armor of God: Our Daily Defense

Ephesians 6 doesn’t just reveal our enemy — it equips us for victory. Verse 11 says:

“Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

You cannot win a spiritual battle with carnal weapons. You can’t fight demons with emotions, arguments, or gossip. You must fight with spiritual armor:
• The Belt of Truth — Walk in integrity and know who you are in Christ.
• The Breastplate of Righteousness — Protect your heart from bitterness and sin.
• The Shoes of Peace — Move in love, even when attacked.
• The Shield of Faith — Block every fiery dart of doubt, fear, and discouragement.
• The Helmet of Salvation — Keep your mind guarded by the Word of God.
• The Sword of the Spirit — Use Scripture as your weapon of war.

When you’re dressed in spiritual armor, you remind the devil that you are not a victim — you are a warrior.

The Tragedy of Fighting Each Other

It’s heartbreaking to see how often the Body of Christ wars against itself. Churches divided. Families broken. Friends turning into enemies.

We gossip instead of pray.
We criticize instead of uplift.
We expose instead of cover in love.

But while we’re fighting each other, Satan rejoices. Because when the Church wars against itself, he doesn’t have to fight us — we do his job for him.

💬 “Our focus must shift from fighting each other to fighting the enemy together.”

It’s time to unite in prayer, not division. To love with wisdom. To remember who the real adversary is.

Seeing with Spiritual Discernment

Discernment is one of the most powerful gifts God gives in warfare. It helps you see beyond the surface — to recognize when something isn’t natural but spiritual.

Sometimes, the enemy hides in plain sight — through opportunities, relationships, or distractions that look good but carry a dark assignment.

When you have discernment, you don’t react emotionally. You respond spiritually. You go into prayer, seeking revelation instead of retaliation.

Because when you pray, Heaven fights for you. When you worship, the atmosphere shifts. When you declare the Word, demons flee.

God’s Purpose in the Pain

When God told me that He was allowing me to experience warfare so that I could help others, I didn’t understand it then. But I do now.

Every attack became an assignment. Every wound became wisdom. Every pain became purpose.

Now I can look someone in the eye who’s fighting witchcraft, sickness, or spiritual confusion and say, “I’ve been there — but God delivered me, and He’ll deliver you too.”

💬 “Your greatest battles birth your greatest anointing.”

What the enemy meant for evil, God used for good. The fight was not meant to destroy me — it was meant to train me. To sharpen my prayer life, strengthen my faith, and raise my authority in the Spirit.

The Church Must Refocus

We cannot afford to keep fighting the wrong battles. The real enemy is not your pastor, your spouse, your boss, or your friend.

The real enemy is the principality behind the problem.

If the church spent half as much time rebuking the devil as it does debating each other, we would see revival break out across the world.

We need to go back to spiritual warfare — fasting, intercession, and deliverance. Because it’s not about who’s right; it’s about who’s fighting right.

Victory Is Already Ours

The beautiful truth is this: The battle may be spiritual, but the victory is already won.

Jesus conquered every principality and power at the cross. Colossians 2:15 says, “Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.”

That means every witchcraft spirit, every demonic attack, every generational curse has already been defeated. You just have to walk in that victory through prayer, faith, and obedience.

When you declare the Word, heaven backs you up. When you stand in faith, angels move on your behalf. When you keep your focus on God, the enemy loses his grip.

Final Thoughts: Keep Your Eyes on the Real Enemy

Beloved, remember this — you are not fighting flesh and blood. The person who wronged you is not your enemy. The delay in your life is not random. The conflict in your home is not just emotional — it’s spiritual.

So instead of getting angry, get anointed.
Instead of retaliating, start interceding.
Instead of complaining, start commanding.

Put on your armor daily. Guard your peace. Keep your focus. Because every battle you fight with God on your side is already a victory in motion.

You are not alone. You are chosen, covered, and equipped.
And remember:

🕊️ “We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities…”
— Ephesians 6:12

The fight may be fierce, but victory is yours — through Christ Jesus.
